I am totally into the type of rom-com over the top romance you only seem to find in the movies *and my life obviously* and I am here to say that Cape Town can offer you just that. Cape Town not have snow or a picture perfect town centre where you can go stroll in at night. What we can supply in abundance is a wild, wind swept ( literally ) passionate place with a dusting luxury.

Have a romantic picnic for two
I love a good picnic especially if I don’t have to pack it myself. Thankfully Cape Town has loads of pretty amazing options.
Boschendal estate has become a very popular picnic spot due to it’s beautiful garden and mountain views. The garden is still big enough to feel secluded so don’t worry about being interrupted while romancing!
The baskets are filled with healthy wholesome goodies all locally made or actually grown on the estate so you know you are in for a treat.
Camps Bay Retreat picnic
The Camps Bay retreat is a hidden gem in Camps Bay. It’s beautiful tranquil garden picnic setting with a splash of turquoise ocean thrown in to make it even more special. If you haven’t been then definitely check it out!
Cape Point Vineyards
Enjoy a picnic with some breathtaking views of Noordhoek at Cape Point Vineyards. Sprawling gardens with a lovely 360 of the surrounding mountains, vineyards and ocean makes for the perfect sunset picnic.
Kirstenbosch ( DIY picnic )
If you don’t mind heading to woolies and grabbing a few goodies for your own picnic then definitely head to Kirstenbosch. Find a big tree to sit under and enjoy the sounds of birds while soaking up all nature has to offer. Drinks are welcome but always clean up after yourself and whatever goes in with you must go out with you as Kirstenbosch does not supply rubbish bins.
It’s also a great idea to walk off all that picnic food with a languid stroll around the gardens.
Watch an outdoor movie
Blankets, stars, loads of cuddling and even more popcorn. Sounds like a perfect date night vibe to me. I absolutely love outdoor movies and there are two pretty great option in Cape Town that you can surprise Bae with tickets to.
Galileo is a seasonal outdoor movie cinema with locations at the V&A Waterfront, the Hillcrest Quarry in Durbanville and Kirstenbosch Gardens. They have a calendar of different movies showing at each of the locations all through Summer and the vibe is really cool.
Take a blanket, a bite to eat and a bottle of wine or rent some chairs and buy food from their yummy food stalls.
Go on a hot air balloon
It probably wont be like the scene in The Ugly Truth but going on a hot air balloon ride is undeniably rom-com material. Gently float above the beautiful vineyards of Stellenbosch and declare your love for each other while adrenaline is most likely pumping through your veins.
Do a wine tasting
Try a delightful fynbos and cupcake pairing at the beautiful Delheim estate. Sitting on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountains the setting is unique and beautiful as is their holistic approach to what they do.

Enjoy a MCC and olive tasting at the House of JC Le Roux and move on to a bottle to share and a relaxed day on their outside deck.
