I love driving up the West Coast from Cape Town and getting away from the city madness to go relax at a beach hideaway. Luckily for me and all of you there are loads of gorgeous places to stay at and unwind!
Pearl Bay in Yzerfontein
This gorgeous white clapboard house is right on the beach in Yzerfontein and with views like that you might never want to leave. The main house has three bedrooms and sleeps eight people which makes it perfect for a family vacation.
Yzerfontein is known for its Sixteen Mile Beach, the longest uninterrupted sandy beach on the South African coastline, stretching north from the main beach of the town, to the West Coast National Park, which borders the town. Dassen Island, another nature reserve, is about 10 km offshore.
Kraalbaai houseboats have two boats to choose from, one large one that sleeps up to 22 people and a smaller one which can take 6 people. They are situated on the lagoon in the West Coast National Park. Kraalbaai beach is a popular spot in Summer time and boasts a rock coming out of the water called “Preekstoel” which translates to pulpit. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, like waterskiing, mountain biking, hiking and fishing.
Sugar Shack Paternoster
Paternoster is one of my favorite Summer getaways and you can see why from this photo at Sugar Shack. Turquoise water and white washed houses transport you to Greece and its the ultimate place to relax or go explore nearby areas like the stunning Tieties Baai.
The Beach House Brittania Bay
If you want to relax in ultimate style you need to stay at The Beach House in Brittania Bay. The living areas are open plan so you can feel like you are in nature all the time. You also have your own private boardwalk to the beach and a fully staffed house so all you need to worry about is your tan!
Silver Bay Villa Shelley Point
Silver Bay Villa is a stunning self-catering villa that sleeps 8 people. It is east facing, with a rim-flow pool in a secluded courtyard protected
from the South Easter that is prevalent in Summer time. The house is up on a dune, looking out over awesome views of
St Helena, Stompneus Bay and its beaches down below.
