• 5 Epic Things To Do In Switzerland

Switzerland is a country full of amazing sights and incredible things to do. We only had a few days but I must say we ticked off some bucket list experiences. Here are five things we really enjoyed and I am pretty sure you will as well!

Take A Ride On A Scenic Train

Train rides in Switzerland are definitely something out of a fairytale. All the views that pass you by seem to be incredible and I couldn’t help but stare! One of our favorite trains was the Belle Epoque on the Golden Pass line. It looked like a train from a bygone era and it was absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of other special scenic trains around Switzerland like the Bernina Express and the Glacier Express. Just remember that you might need to book seats on these trains before the time!

    Hike A Glacier

Hiking on a glacier was never on my bucket list because its one of those things you just don’t think is possible. To my delight Switzerland is a country of making dreams realities and I definitely had a once in a lifetime experience hiking the Aletsch Glacier. You can hike a part of it from Jungfraujoch ( the highest altitude train station in Europe ) to the Monchsjoch hut. It takes about an hour but be ready to struggle if you arent used to high altitudes. Also wear the proper hiking gear and stay on the path. We took a slow walk to the hut soaking up the natural beauty and then obviously celebrated with a Swiss beer!

Eat Fondue In An Igloo In Switzerland

If you you want a true Swiss experience then having a cheese fondue is a must. Kick it up a notch by having it inside an igloo on top of a snow capped mountain! We loved our late cheese lunch so much we didn’t want to leave!

    Hike From Wengen To Lauterbrunnen

If the weather is playing along then a hike is always a good idea in Switzerland. One of the prettiest and relatively easy hikes we came across was the one from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen. I suggest that you take a train to Wengen and then follow the signs all the way down to Lauterbrunnen. It will take you about 45 min and its the perfect way to explore the area.

    Have A Picnic at Blausee

Blausee is one of those places that is so unexpected it will take your breath away! Hidden in a bit of a forest this small lake has incredibly clear blue water. Its free to enter and a great place for a short walk and a picnic. If you don’t feel like brining your own food there is a restaurant with a deck you can go relax at. If the weather is good take a paddle around the lake on a small glass bottomed rowing boat and learn more about the history of Blausee.

I would love to eat fondue in an igloo or take the scenic train ride. Train rides are one of my favorite ways to travel and see the surrounding areas! I have never been to Switzerland, and should I get there one day I will have to do both of those tips. Thank you for a wonderful post and you have some beautiful photos!

Wow! These are some great suggestions. I am all about that fondue in an igloo, and going to Blausee. That water looks absolutely amazing! Is it a long hike to get to the lake, or is it just like…right there?

It’s like right by the road and bus station! A 5 min walk but it feels like you are so far away from everything!
