Alpine Adventures With Swiss International Airlines

Flying to Switzerland with Swiss International Airlines was my first international trip for the year and I was so excited to head to a beautiful country and do some amazing things! I was especially excited about seeing lots of snow and I was almost obsessively checking the weather for about a month before our trip.

We didn’t have a direct flight from Cape Town so we headed to Johannesburg first and chilled in the lounge for a couple of hours before boarding our flight at about 8. Check in was a breeze which is always appreciated as I always get anxiety while traveling and when things run smoothly it really does help a lot!

Our Flight

I really loved the fact that our plane was on the smaller side so instead of three seats by the window side there were only two then four middle and then two again. That meant we could relax in our own little space. Time passed quickly, especially after a glass of red wine, a good meal and a few funny movies and before I knew it light started filtering in.

Seeing the Alps

I peaked out the window just as the first light was hitting the Swiss alps and I almost screamed I was so excited. Endless snow capped mountains with slightly pink mist swirling around them was definitely the perfect way to be introduced to Switzerland for the first time.

Our plane landed ahead of schedule ( our first taste of Swiss efficiency ) and then we were ready, bags in hand to go explore one of the most gorgeous countries in the world.

It’s perfect when a flight goes to plan, it makes it a whole lot more relaxing. I love when there are good movies on the flight too, it makes the time pass by quicker. Seeing the alps after all that flight time must have been amazing!

Switzerland synonymous with dreamland. Pink mist-laden snow capped mountains – it sounds so dreamy and I’d love to lie down and sip a cuppa watching the mist slowly disappears. Also when the flights are on time, it makes the trip so hassle-free and comfy!

Looks like a perfect flight! I think everyone would love to visit Switzerland and having a very nice airline will definitely add to such an amazing visit to this country. I hope to experience that airlines as well in the future.

I’m sure the view must have been spectacular! I’d love to visit the Alps one day…at least I’m waaay closer to Switzerland than you were 🙂 downside is, I wouldn’t get that great view then, as I’d probably hop on a train (from France) instead.

What a fantastic adventure! I visited Switzerland during my very first international trip ever. I wasn’t even sure I wanted to visit because there wasn’t a historical castle or anything like that. I paused on a trip from France to Italy and was so very very surprised at the stunning beauty and wonder there. It would have been such a shame to miss! Can’t wait to get a chance to take the kids.

This really brings back memories of the first time I saw the alps in Switzerland. I was astonished the first time and every time. The best thing about the beaty of the Swiss Alps is how fun they are too – Skiing, snowboarding, hikes, glacier climbs. Man! We should have went there too 🙂

I can feel the excitement you had. Looks like you had a pretty comfortable flight. How long did the flight last?
