Jungle Oats Instant Sachets
Jungle Oats is a brand that I have been familiar with all my life. When we were small we used to call it “tiertjie pap” which translates to tiger cereal because of their logo. Recently I was invited to do the Otter trail and while prepping my bag for the 5 day hike I just knew I had to include some Jungle Oats instant sachets.
I hike quite often but doing a 5 day hike with no electricity or comforts of home can be tough. Preparing your mind and body is essential especially when those uphills come at you and your pack feels like it goes from 16kg to 60kg! Eating food that will give you long lasting energy and leave you feeling satisfied but not overly full is essential. You also need to carry your food for the 5 days so thinking light helps a lot!
We were carrying gas canisters with us for our morning coffee so making my oats was super easy. I would just mix a bit of water with my oats and voila. A delicious warm and healthy breakfast! My favorite one was the caramel but its nice to buy a variety pack and have a different flavour each morning. Having your oats out in nature should definitely be a thing! I wish I could have views like this every morning.
Jungle Oats Snack Mix & Energy Bars
Most days we would hike a couple of hours with a few photo stops along the way. The garden route coastline is beautiful so be prepared to have your camera out a lot while walking the Otter trail. I usually took this opportunity to quickly grab a snack like the Jungle Oats snack mix or energy bar. It not only feels like a treat for making it to a certain point, it also gives you much needed energy!
I loved the sunrise scramble snack pack not only because it had delicious cranberries but also because the name seemed to be really on point! Most mornings would start with a killer uphill but would reward us with what we saw from the top.
Jungle oats has a really fun competition running at the moment and you should really get involved! You could win one of three South African getaways this Winter.
