Cape Town comes alive with quirky and cool markets every weekend. You can find fresh produce, delicious food and locally made products and definitely a few drinks. My favorite part of going to markets ( besides the food of course! ) is to soak up the incredible vibe that they always seem to have.
Here are some of the coolest Cape Town markets to hit up!
The Oranjezight City Farm Market
The name might be a little confusing as this market moved to Granger bay near the V&A Waterfront but they still have the same great fresh produce and food. This is really a market for everyone with beautiful views and everything you can think of. Buy fresh bread, organic and free range food or indulge in the delicious food at the stalls. The vibe is all about family and fun so bring your kids and dogs and enjoy the outdoor seating.
Open on Saturdays, 8.30am – 2pm (rain or shine)
The Mojo market is definitely one of my favorite markets and not just because its probably the closest to where I live. This new-ish market in Regent road, Seapoint is jam packed with food, drink, clothing, homeware and loads more. It has plenty of seating a cool bar and sometimes even live music. This market stands out because it’s actually open all week long so you don’t have to wait for the weekend to get your fix!
Open Monday – Sunday, 10am – 10pm in Summer and ; 10am – 9pm in Winter
The Neighbourgoods Market
This vibrant, busy market in Woodstock is located at the Old Biscuit Mill and is one of the oldest markets in Cape Town. Judging by how full it is every weekend, people still cant get enough of this great market. It houses over 100 speciality traders every Saturday and is definitely one of the coolest Cape Town Markets for breakfast.
Its open on Saturdays from 9am – 3pm
Bay Harbour Market
This energetic and slightly quirky market is makes it’s home in an old fish factory in Hout Bay’s Harbour. It has live music every weekend and a variety of interesting stalls in its tented alleys and courtyards.
Open on Fridays from 5pm – 9pm and Saturdays & Sundays from 9:30am – 4pm
The Waterfront Food Market
Another market that is open everyday and has a prime location to boot. Definitely don’t miss a chance to pop in at The Waterfront Food Market as well as its neighbour The Watershed Market. If you are in the mood for dessert treat yourself to some delicious ice-cream from unframed and watch the world go by from their outside seating.
