Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles and I really fell head over heels for it! This beautiful island is home to many amazing sights and you definitely need to put it on your list of must visit places.
Mike and I didn’t spend nearly enough time there but we did get to see some of the sights. If you love exploring then you wont be bored in Praslin!
Getting there and getting around
You can take a ferry from the main island Mahe or you can fly with Air Seychelles. Flying is quicker and you get to see the island from above which is breathtaking so I would suggest that option. Just be aware that there is a strict baggage limit on the island hopper flights!
We had a private transfer taking us around but you can easily rent a car or a scooter so you can explore the island at your own leisure!
Top things to do
If you don’t feel like lazing around at the beach here are some other options to keep in mind!
Visit Vallee De Mei
Some might tell you this is the original site of the garden of Eden and its not difficult to see why. The Coco De Mer grows here and the male and female nuts actually look like the male and female forms! It is a nature reserve and world heritage sight and a lovely place to go for a walk!
Swim at Anse Lazio in Praslin
This breathtaking beach was named the best beach on Praslin by Lonely Planet and you can see why! Gorgeous crystal clear water and white sand make for the perfect island combination! According to locals there is a honesty bar that has a fridge filled with Seybrew. You need to search for it a bit and unfortunately we didn’t have time!
Have a Seybrew sundowner
The local beer is called Seybrew and it is so good! We loved cracking one upon at sunset to celebrate a day of exploring! There are so many great sunset spots in Seychelles so you wont need to go for to enjoy your beer.
Check out the vibrant Anse Volbert-Côte D’Or area
This is the main beach area in Praslin and a gathering place for locals and tourists. Come here for cocktails and dinner at one of the numerous beach bars or take a swim on the pristine beach. There are also lots of watersports, shops and other activities to keep busy with!
Lunch at Bonbon Plume
If you are at Anse Lazio and you are looking for a delicious seafood lunch then head to Bonbon Plume which is a restaurant almost on the beach. The vibe is relaxed and the food delicious and plentiful! Just be warned, you might want to nap on the beach when you are done!
