For me Summer is all about looking glowing, bronzed and healthy without resorting to lying in the sun. Fresh glowing makeup with pops of colour and a nice evenly tanned skin is what I am after, especially when going on holiday in tropical places!
When I recently went to Mauritius there were two brands I just couldn’t go without and if you haven’t you need to try them out!
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of self tanners and not a fan of getting too much sun. I fell in love with Australian gold ages ago and now I really can’t live without the amazing smelling range.
I had been using their range of SPF products for a few Summers because they have such an extensive range of great sun tan lotions. Before our trip to Mauritius I decided to also give their self tanners a go and I wasn’t disappointed. They also smell great ( such a big bonus when it comes to self tan ) They last long and they give you an even brown ( not orange ) tan.
They also just brought out a reef friendly, eco conscious botanical range which I am so excited about. It hasn’t been launched in SA just yet but I am really hoping it will before next Summer!
One of my favorite Australian gold products is their SPF 50 face guard which comes in a stick form. Its so convenient to carry around in my bag and just pop on whenever I feel I need some extra protection!
Wet n Wild:
Another brand I have been using for a while but only recently tried more of is Wet n Wild. When they first launched in South Africa I bought a few of their affordable lipsticks. I fell in love with one called Bare it all ( the perfect nude ) and I have probably repurchased it about 30 times since then. I actually buy one every time I see it as they always seem to be sold out. Now I keep a tube in every handbag because I am so scared to run out.
The really epic thing about Wet n Wild is that not only are they affordable and great quality. The brand is also vegan and cruelty free!
So you already know I am crazy about their lipstick but there are a few more products I have been seriously crushing on for Summer.
Their Megaglo hello halo liquid highlighter is probably my favorite highlighter I have used so far. They have a whole bunch of different shades but I have been wearing Goddess Glow which is a gold one. It blends so easily and really adds dimension to my otherwise matte makeup. I use it above my upper lip, on my cheekbones and on my nose.
Something I struggle with is redness especially around my nose area. The Wet n Wild Mega cushion color corrector in green has really helped minimise redness before applying foundation. I can’t wait to try out the other colors!
The Photofocus natural finish setting spray is a great size to pop in my bag and a life saver for hot weather where you don’t want your makeup melting off. I went with the natural finish ( they also have matte ) to keep my skin looking fresh and glowing, perfect for a beach holiday!
