Goatshed Restaurant At Fairview { REVIEW }

Over the weekend Michael and I headed over to Paarl to try out a few places with Instaeats Cape Town. They had an absolutely lovely weekend planned for us and our first stop just had to be breakfast as we were absolutely starving after our early morning drive from Cape Town.

Luckily for us our breakfast spot was the Goatshed Restaurant at Fairview and we were definitely going to walk out feeling full and happy. I cant believe I hadnt visited Fairview before as its so pretty even though it was raining on the day we went. It has this goat tower by the parking lot where you go in and its hilarious. If you want to make a goat fairytale story visit them for some inspo!

After taking a few too many snaps of the very photogenic goats ( yes they are dont argue! ) we made our way to the restaurant to warm up and order some much needed coffee. We were surprised with a bit more than coffee and they brought us a bottle of the Fairview MCC so we definitely had breakfast in style! I love a good champagne breakfast and it really makes the day start of on a special note, just keep to one glass though 😛

There were a lot of delicious looking things on the menu and we all got something different which was great because then you can try everyones and know what you will be having next time. I always get serious food fomo but everyone ordered something so delicious that no one felt upset about their choice. Also be warned the portions are absolutely huge so come hungry or be prepared for a long leisurely breakfast! I had the croissant with salmon, scrambled eggs, capers, cream cheese and thinly sliced onion rings and I really enjoyed how light and tasty it was. Michael made a bold choice and went for their Pyttipanna which is a Swedish dish of fried potatoes, veal shoulder served with fried egg, onion relish and Nürnberger bratwurst. This might seem like a strange breakfast option but oh boy it was so good! We were told that some people call it the hangover breakfast and I can see why, you will most certainly feel a lot better after having a plateful of that. I love it when there are different options on a breakfast menu beacuase the same food made the same way can get so boring if you eat out a lot. Francis from Insta Eats decided to go for the Goatshed’s Croque Monsieur which has smoked ham, mature Cheddar toasted sandwich with Dijon mustard infused Béchamel sauce and a fried egg. The inclusion of the egg made it sound more like a Croque Madame but it was delicious either way.

They also have a bakery so if you don’t feel like having a full on breakfast you can indulge in a chocolate croissant or a danish. Its also quite interesting to note that bikers and cyclists get a 10% on their breakfast if they come before 11 and present their helmet at the front. Maybe next time we will have to cycle there?

All in all the experience was a great one. Friendly people and a relaxed, cosy atmosphere made for a great morning. I cant wait to go visit again when the weather is better so we can sit outside under the trees!
