Luxury Glamping at Marataba Safari Lodge

Marataba Safari Lodge  sits overlooking the breathtaking Waterberg Mountain range. It’s a lodge that has taken glamping to the next level and a place you will find difficult to say goodbye to.

Marataba Safari Lodge

I am a big fan of sleeping in tents but when you step into your room at Marataba you are in for a massive treat. There are 15 gorgeous tented suites that have all the luxuries you will need. A wooden deck to watch the animals from the privacy of your room. A huge comfortable bed, massive bath and even an outdoor shower.

The lodge itself is also beautiful with African elements and a contemporary  twist. The outside area is the perfect place to relax during the day with the view of the mountains.

The tented suites

I felt like some kind of princess sleeping under the enormous canopy at night. Not only was the bed deliciously soft and comfy it was also absolutely huge and had a view of the mountains. Believe me when I tell you I slept like an dream every night we spent at Marataba safari lodge. I also obviously had to test out the bath and it was more than relaxing to chill while looking out towards the mountains.

Michael and I spent an afternoon sitting on our wooden deck watching birds, vervet monkeys and some wildebees in the distance. I loved that you got the safari experience, even from your bedroom!

Game Drives

We went on quite a few game drives and saw a brown hyena, rhino’s and even some cute looking jackals. What I absolutely loved about the game drives though was the sunset view of the mountains. The whole Waterberg would turn a deep red at sunset that was magical to watch. Sipping a glass of red wine next to a river full of hippo’s watching that was quite the experience.

I miss South Africa! I lived in Stellenbosch for 5 years and never did this! I was also a student then, so couldn’t afford it then, but planning on going back in December, so might make a turn here then!
