We are lucky enough to live just a few roads away from The Camps Bay Retreat and strolling down to the takes just a few minutes. This makes it the perfect spot for a quiet sundowner or a relaxed weekend picnic. You definitely need to put it on your list of must visit places as it really is a hidden gem in Camps Bay.
The Camps Bay Retreat
This luxury boutique hotel is almost hidden in a lush green setting against the slopes of Lions Head next to the Glen in Camps Bay. It’s a little slice of paradise with mountain and ocean views peaking out from between the trees.
The hotel features 19 rooms, 4 pools, a tennis court, a spa and a beautiful restaurant that is also open to the public.
Having a picnic at The Camps Bay Retreat
We booked a picnic on the lawns of The Camps Bay Retreat on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. When we arrived our little spot was already set up on the lawns under the shade of a big tree. The Atlantic sparkled at us from beyond the trees and the vibe was great.
Their cocktails are well priced and delicious so I started our afternoon off with a refreshing mojito as we waited for our picnic to arrive. I requested a pescatarian picnic as I don’t eat meat and we were not disappointed. The food was really good and there was more than enough for two people. I particularly enjoyed the greek salad and the chocolate brownies to end off with but everything was so good I had too indulge! We also shared a bottle of bubbly because why not and spent the rest of the afternoon in a total state of bliss.
