The Radisson Blu Sandton is conveniently located in the heart of Sandton, Johannesburg.

Because of The Radisson Blu’s desirable location we thought it would make the perfect halfway point to spend the night. Michael and I had driven from the Marataba Game Reserve in The Waterberg area and were heading to Kruger National Park. I also needed to do some shopping and Sandton city is 5 minutes away from the hotel so that was a definite bonus! We had a car there so we drove but it was so close you could have easily walked.

If you are heading to and from the airport its also a great spot as its only 30km from OR Tambo international and 5 minutes from the Sandton Gautrain station.

There are four different types of rooms at The Radisson Blu. We only stayed for one night so a standard room would have been perfect but we really liked the perks that came with the Business class room. If you bump up to a business class room you get access to the business class lounge.

I loved the idea of the lounge as it reminded me of the ones at the airport. Its open from 6am till 10pm and serves drinks and snacks all day long as well as light meals. This really appealed to us and we grabbed an early dinner and drink there before heading to our room for an early night.

The room was large and airy with big windows and a great view so we felt right at home which made for a great night sleep. I actually didn’t want to get up when our alarm sounded at 5am. I could have easily slept a few more hours.

The hotel has so many things to offer and that surprised me in a really good way. There was a beautiful pool area with views and a bar where you could relax on a sunny day. Then you can also choose to go relax at the spa or do a full workout at the gym.

The hotel also had really great free wifi which is always a huge plus in my books. While traveling ( especially for business ) good fast internet is a must. Usually you either have to pay for it, can only use it in shared areas or just not have it at all! Its refreshing to see a hotel that makes a point of having good reception everywhere.

We might have had a quick stay at The Radisson Blu Sandton but I definitely know where to book if I go to Johannesburg again.

We stayed in the Radisson Blu Gautrain and it was just so lovely! The food is fantastic and the rooms are so comfortable. And the toiletries they give you – I had a bath with the bath salts and it was bliss!
