Tintswalo Atlantic Cape Town Review: A Night Of Luxury
Tintswalo Atlantic lies nestled away at the foot of Chapmans peak. Along one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the world. It blends in so seamlessly with the nature that surrounds it that I wont blame you for not having spotted it before. That is very much part of the charm and allure of this magical hotel.
We were lucky enough to be able to spend the night at Tintswalo Atlantic. In true Cape Town fashion we were served a perfect Summer’s day in the middle of Winter. A lot of you might know that warm weather is my favorite but Tintswalo definitely caters for Winter visits as well with fireplaces, good red wine and dramatic landscapes.
If you are looking for the perfect place to get married, go on honeymoon or just relax and soak up all the beauty Cape Town has to offer then definitely consider adding a few nights at Tintswalo Atlantic to your plans.
Tintswalo Atlantic Boutique Lodge
I love how intimate Tintswalo Atlantic is, which ten 1 bedroom island suites and one 2 bedroom villa you will never feel like there are too many people. The lodge is in such a unique location and even getting from the parking lot situated on Chapmans Peak drive to the hotel down below is an experience. When you step into the hotel it will really take your breathe away. The lounge, bar and dining area flow effortlessly into each other and then spills out onto a deck that seems to float above the ocean. The perfect place to sip my welcome champagne and marvel at the Sentinel mountain jutting out proudly across the bay.
Did you know that you can book to have breakfast, lunch or dinner ( even drinks! ) at their restaurant and deck? This is definitely a great option to spoil someone on a special day or just because!
The rooms at Tintswalo Atlantic
Keeping with the beachy feel each room at Tintswalo Atlantic is named after an island and decorated to match as well. The rooms all have lovely private wooden decks facing the ocean and its the perfect place to have your first cup of coffee in the morning! The bathrooms are also huge with a large bathtub and shower. Tintswalo really goes the extra mile to make everything special and an experience and you can really see it in all the little touches they add. There is a wood burning fire place for cosy nights, little messages made with beach pebbles waiting for you and even delicious sweet treats to indulge in before bed time.
One of my favorite things was lying in bed before heading off to dreamland and listening to the sound of the waves rolling over the pebbles outside our room. It is so therapeutic I wish I could listen to it every night!
The Pool Deck
One of my absolute favorite bits from our stay at Tintswalo Atlantic was the pool deck. I love a good pool with a view and this one has made it to the top of my list. Not only does it have a gorgeous view, its also heated which is a winner especially in Winter! No fomo when the weather is cold as I can’t think of anything better than sitting in a nice warm pool on a chilly day right? We definitely took advantage of the good weather though and spent a couple of hours lounging around in the sun while trying to spot some whales or dolphins in the bay.
Another little touch that I appreciated is that they have ice cold lemon and cucumber water for guests at the pool as well as magazines and even some sunscreen if you have forgotten yours. I always forget those things so it was such a nice surprise to not have to stress or run back to the room. They really think about all your needs at Tintswalo.
When staying at Tintswalo you have to partake in a very special tradition before you leave. You get given a pebble with “May all your wishes come true” written on it. Then you have to stand on the deck facing the lodge with the pebble in your right hand throwing it over your left shoulder as you make your wish!
The Food at Tintswalo
Unfortunately we didn’t try one of their world class dinners ( next time for sure! ) but we did indulge in some yumminess on our stay. Breakfasts at Tintswalo are a feast and best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Pastries, cheese, granola, yogurt, fruit and much more is what we enjoyed before saying goodbye and heading back home. The morning spread is out of this world so come hungry because you will want to try everything. The pain aux chocolat went first, followed by some fresh veggie juice ( yes please ) and all the coffee! After all the delicious pre breakfast platters ( yes you hear right, there is more! ) you can also order a hot breakfast of your choice.
Luxury in an incredible natural setting with amazing service is what we experienced at Tintswalo Atlantic. It was romantic and relaxed and the perfect place to add to your Cape Town itinerary. You are close enough to all the attractions the city has to offer ( check out my 101 things to do in Cape Town ) but you feel like you are miles away.
