My Top 5 Travel Resolutions for 2016
Resolutions and goals are a bit cliche and even cheesy at the best of times but for me it is therapeutic to write down everything I want to achieve in the fresh new year. One of my top goals this year is to travel as much as I possibly can and not just in other countries but also my own. There is so much to see and explore and my list of must visit places grow daily and 2016 will be the year I start ticking them off at an alarming rate ( go big or go home right? ) Travelling and working at the same time isn’t easy though and I have been thinking about how to structure my year. A blog post with all my travel resolutions seemed like a good way to start and something interesting to look back on at the end of the year.
1. Be a more organised traveller:
This one will really be the most difficult one for me. I am not a naturally organised person and even with all my good intentions I still tend to forget things and leave a lot of important things to the last minute. This year I want to focus on this weakness and hopefully turn it around! Making lists and checking and rechecking baggage will be my main focus but I would also want to do more research before I go on trips so I know what to expect, where the best places are and how to make the most out of every trip.
2. Get more content:
For some people the experience is enough but for me the content is just as important. I dont just need it to be able to do my job but its also a way of capturing moments to look back on in years to come. I sometimes find myself swept away with moments or just being downright lazy and not getting certain shots and I absolutely always regret it. This year I am going to go for the more is better approach and try and document as much as I can.
3. Take risks:
I have said no to plenty of things on my travels, especially when I was younger and obviously later down the line the regret comes. I am going to try and be open minded and not let my fear overshadow something that could be an amazing life changing experience. Yes is going to be my word this year!
4. Be positive & relax:
I have a lot of anxiety while travelling. A lot of it has to do with standing in lines, being on time or needing to be first. Sometimes I shake it off as being a good traveller but it can get frustrating and but me in a bad mood when I cant help the situation. This year I am going to obviously still try and get places on time and be first in lines but when it doesnt happen I am not going to let it affect my mood. Stressful travelling is the worst and most of the time it leads to arguments and hurt feelings so from now on I will try and smile and let it go, which is something I am going to try and apply to everyday life as well.
5. Travel more:
I am really going to make an effort to go somewhere new every month even if its just an hour away. Experiencing new things makes you grateful and excited for life and being in the position to work from anywhere makes it almost a requirement to see as much as you can. I have never been part of the save for later in your life type of people and I believe in buying experiences now instead of things.
