Victoria falls has always been a bucket list place for me to visit and I was so excited when a couple of years ago I could tick it off my list.
We had just finished a 10 day luxury tented safari with AndBeyond, travelling from the Okovango Delta all the way to Zimbabwe and our last night would be spent at the stunning Victoria falls river lodge right next to the Zambezi. We however had a little stop first at the actual falls and I was so extremely excited about it. Michael had been to Zimbabwe plenty of times before as well as at the falls but I had never been and he was very amped to share the experience with me. We didnt have a lot of time before we had to catch our transport to our lodge and I could have stayed much longer but it was still so incredible.
The other name for the falls is Mosi-oa-Tunya—”The Smoke That Thunders” and its definitely a great description. I went in dry season and it was still epic so I cant even imagine what it would be like when it really thunders down. You actually get wet while you are walking on the path and it is so crazy to see this really lush jungle like area when everywhere else is so dry.
There are quite a few things you can do at the falls other than take a stroll around. You can brave the bridge and bungee jump which is something Michael really wanted to do. You can also take a helicopter ride, do white water rafting, take a sunset cruise or even hike some of the falls so you definitely wont get bored if you stay a few days!
I live in South Africa but the rest of this beautiful continent also has a special place in my heart and I definitely want to go back to the falls to experience it in all its glory!
