Glen Carlou wine estate was established in 1985 and since then has made a name for itself in the wine industry. Recently I had the immense pleasure of spending the day at their picturesque estate. With views that stretch to Paarl and an infectious passion for wine and food it is really a place you want to linger at.
Restaurant @Glen Carlou
A big balcony lends itself to Summer days and the interior with its open friendly feel makes you feel right at home. We had the pleasure of joining the team at Glen Carlou for lunch and it was nothing less than spectacular. Not only was the food great but the well informed, funny and friendly staff really made it extra special for us. I always rate a restaurant by their staff and I could find no fault.
I broke the mould and ordered a glass of their Merlot to go with my lunch as I was keen to see how it compared to their whites. I was definitely not disappointed and that probably showed when I ordered my second glass!
30 Years of Chardonnay
We celebrated their 30 years of Chardonnay by doing a tasting in their cellar. Usually I am not a fan of white wine but I must say they converted me. There will definitely be a bottle of their Chardonnay on my lunch table this Summer.
They offer tastings if you are interested in trying before you buy. They are also a very recent addition to the Franschhoek tram route which is really exciting!
Art Gallery @ Glen Carlou
If you are an art lover then you definitely need to stop by their gallery. A mix of contemporary, pop and modern work that is curated by Alex Hamilton. I loved the huge space with its impressive pieces.
